Our Story

Born from Survival. Built on Sisterhood.

We are more than a foundation — we are a family forged in fire, faith, and the fierce will to live fully.

How Sisters Still Surviving Foundation Began

Founded by Kayla Harris & Shamill Tucker

Sisters Still Surviving Foundation was created from a passion to uplift, encourage, empower, and support individuals and families affected by breast cancer. As breast cancer survivors and supporters, one of the first questions asked after diagnosis was, "What's next?" Throughout the journey, there remained a desire to encourage and motivate others, even while facing personal challenges. Breast cancer is a cause that is deeply personal to us, and we believe this journey was never meant to be walked alone but serves as an opportunity to positively impact the lives of others.

Our purpose is to provide hope, encouragement, support, resources, and financial assistance to those navigating the challenges of breast cancer. We understand firsthand the emotional, physical, and financial hardships that can accompany treatment, especially when individuals must take a leave of absence from work, experience a loss of income, or face delays in receiving disability benefits. For those without insurance or adequate financial resources, the burden can be overwhelming.

Through Sisters Still Surviving Foundation, we strive to ease those burdens by helping individuals and families with expenses related to chemotherapy, radiation, medications, treatments, transportation, and other essential medical costs that may require out-of-pocket payment. We are also committed to supporting single mothers battling breast cancer by helping alleviate financial pressures associated with daily living expenses so they can focus on healing, recovery, and caring for their families.

Beyond financial support, our mission is to create a community where survivors, patients, and their families feel seen, valued, and encouraged. We believe every person deserves hope, compassion, and a support system that reminds them of their strength during difficult seasons. Through education, outreach, advocacy, and survivor-focused programs, we aim to inspire resilience, perseverance, and confidence.

Sisters Still Surviving Foundation exists to remind those affected by breast cancer that they are not alone. There is life beyond a diagnosis, strength beyond the struggle, and purpose beyond the pain. We are committed to serving with compassion, leading with purpose, and helping individuals and families move forward with faith, courage, and the confidence to know they are still standing, still growing, and still surviving.

What We Stand For

Our values are not just words on a wall — they are the heartbeat of everything we do.

Sisterhood

We believe no woman should face a breast cancer diagnosis alone. Our community is built on radical love, shared strength, and the unbreakable bond of sisterhood.

Empowerment

We equip survivors with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to reclaim their lives — not just survive, but thrive beyond diagnosis.

Advocacy

We amplify the voices of survivors, advocate for equitable access to care, and work to dismantle the barriers that affect all women facing breast cancer — regardless of race, background, or circumstance.

Community is at the heart of everything we do. Every program, event, and initiative is created alongside the women we serve — because their voices, experiences, and strength shape our foundation.
